Michael Williams was born and raised in Birmingham, UK.

He started his singing career at a very young age.

 

While in college he sang with several different harmony groups and by the time he left college, he went on to perform and record as a solo artist.

 

In 1993 Michael toured with British group UB40 in the Caribbean and ended up touring the UK and Europe as a solo performer.

 

Later in 1998 Michael toured for two years in a Motown production called "The Reach out Tour" which featured the music of great Motown acts such as "The FourTops", "The Temptations", "Marvin Gaye" and "Smokey Robinson & "The Miracles".

 

Michael joined  The Drifters in 2006 as an understudy and became one of the lead singers in late 2007. He recorded lead on

two new songs featured on The Drifters 2011 greatest hits album,

(Up On The Roof)..... "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and "Do You Dream of Me".

 

Michael along with the rest of the group, received gold discs from Sony music in 2012 for the release of the “Up On The Roof”album. Michael's tenure with The Drifters saw him tour with some of the greats including.....A 2008 tour of the U.K. with souldiva "Gloria Gaynor", followed by a 2010 tour of the U.K. with "The Four Tops", "The Temptations" and the "Three Degrees".

 

In 2015 he again toured the U.K., this time with "Mary Wilson" (of "The Supremes"), "Roberta Flack" and "Dionne Warwick".This tour coincided with therelease of “Stand By Me”The Very Best Of The Drifters an album released by Atlantic Records.Michael had the pleasure of ecording the lead vocal on the classic

“Stand By Me”originally written and recorded by "Ben E King".

In 2017 Michael was part of a musical that toured up and down the UK called "Stand By Me" which was a tribute to the late great

"Ben E King & The Drifters".

 

As of 2018 he has a very sucessful solo career and also works as part of couple of harmony groups touring all over the world.

 

The beginning of 2019 saw Michael move into television as he was featured as a judge on the second season of the BBCʼs

“AllTogether Now”a British reality television music competition to find new singing talent.Michael has also released two solo albums entitled “Find Your Wings”and “Celebrate With Michael Williams”

2021 Michael is currently working with a new solo album with the Swedish R&B/Soul producer Björn Johansson. T.B.A.
